Skill Tests for PHP/MySQL/etc?
By Steve Poland • April 18, 2008
Looking at someone’s resume can help, but it doesn’t really tell me how bad/good/great a programmer is with PHP 5 or MySQL, etc. ODesk has tests, but other than that — is there any skill tests that programmers can take, which are respected in the industry, and can really tell an employer how smart they are with programming?

Got something to say?

Zend Certification for PHP. Not sure about MySQL.
good luck
I have yet to see any test that truely tells you if a programmer is good or not. Most experienced developers don’t give programming certifications any credit. Most db based certs are geared towards administrating the db as opposed to good db design and query writing.
I’d have to agree. In the programming world, it seems that accomplishments carry a great deal more weight than credentials
