Steve, Leddo's onto something there...

I'd be an active part of such a scenario. Could easily see that sort of community development moving from idea to proof of concept to company organization to VC'd... And who'd be perfect to be involved, but the people that made up that ideas ongoing development.

TS's could post excerpts of highlights to the public accessible pages and continue to garner input as the project moves forward.

I don't register as much as I used to. I have two domains I think are somewhat witty - endzwell.com ("All's well that end's well") and lifehoop.com.

I have a thick sketchbook of ideas that have everything from logo mockups to business models and names of people doing similar stuff, etc.

I like the way the comments have fleshed out a new idea - basically a community where people can list ideas/domains, and then allow members to contribute to the idea to come up with something workable, or a decision that it is just a pipe dream...
Maybe an option that when real specifics start being discussed, of going into a private area where only registered members for that "idea" are allowed access.
Nice One.

It would be an all new project for us reader at techquilashots.com. Yes, it might nurture to something unexpected.

Steve, I think rulepark's idea would be a great new feature on your site. What if you set up a section that simply allowed for us readers to either email you the actual domain name, and you post it up or you could have a general post that we then commented on with the domain that we own (so it's protected for those of us [me!] that think something might happen if someone knows the name of the domain I own; silly, I know. I'm planning on going to Poland's therapy class at the recoveringBlogger.com institute ;) )

Then you could pick the interesting ones, start a very directed discussion in your community here about the domain owners ideas and how to expand, refine, improve, and generally make it happen. You just never know what might transpire for someones little baby of a notion if they get the right nurturing!

I have about 55 domain names, but only about 5-6 in active use right now. Many I don't have plans for, many I do, some are old names for things which I have discarded in favor of better ones. Often times I'll register a domain with no idea what to use it for, or sometimes I'll have an idea and come up with a list of domains and register my top 4 or 5 and decide on one later. ;)

My favorite domain might still be Administr8.com ... which I have owned unused since 2001 or so. ;) I plan to figure out what to use it for some day. :D

I currently own 10 domains. Some of them have been developed for businesses that are doing alright. I will usually buy a domain after coming up with an idea, then I start development.

Mr. Poland, I am actually having this idea about contributing the domains to the blog, meaning, list out the name and then let the reader here discuss what idea should be done about it. What you think?

It would be fun and ideapreneuring...

yes I am! I have all symptoms you've described + "I wish I live in Silicon Valley where grass is green and VC's are easier" :) I've more than 30 domains. It's *a little* easier in Poland to register a domain, you don't feel that entire world dictionary + klingonian + all permutations of less than 6 chars were registered.

The problem is of course execution. Sometimes it stops when the domain is registered. I've got domain, I've got idea, my friends said I'm bright guy, why I should work to turn idea into reality? :-)

Very insightful post! Also reminded me to register some domains. demomode.net ... great name... I have no idea what to put under this domain. But we, serial ideapreneurs are running in demo mode, aren't we?
